We wanted to give UK artists the opportunity to create something for a brand without all the nitty gritty technicalities that can often cramp the creative process.
We gathered five talented up and coming young illustrators and gave them the really unique task of interpreting a single sentence in any way they wished.
There were no rules and no context; they were free to do what ever their hearts desired. Really, no catches! Well, maybe there was a little secret, we do like to keep things interesting over here. What was kept from these artists was that the sentence from Debenhams was a guide to a correct bra fitting. We were super eager to see what these clever kids came up with and as the work came rolling back in, we were not disappointed.
Edward Carvhalo-Monaghan, Charlotte Posner, Natalie Lines, Eleanor Rose Shenton and Jean Jullien all let loose on their craft, and the brilliant videographer Chris Turner caught them in action in their own work environments to see what got them ticking. Chris' beautiful film explored the artists' approach to the project, capturing their creative process alongside Debenhams' guide to a correctly fitting bra for their #knowmysize campaign. The film tells a beautiful story of the creative process and the ‘Art of Interpretation’. We loved seeing the passion these guys have for their work and were so stoked to enable them with such an awesome opportunity.

Not only is it great that Debenhams are brazenly embracing all that we do here at Gather.ly and adopting a new marketing strategy, but in doing so they are giving us the chance to create amazing opportunities that enable young creatives to do what they really love, and get it out there in the commercial world.
Final Poster Designs For #knowmysize
We have had such a positive response from the illustrators involved and it makes us so excited for future projects. The film and the finished work were shown off to a huge crowd at Allpress Espresso Roastery, and we had cold beers to keep everyone's thirst quenched from Two Finger Brewing Co., whose profits go to Prostate Cancer UK. We also lucked out with the weather, the sun was out for an epic evening, and DJ Jon Stone kept the crowd going with some fab beats.
The response from the creatives is what really warms our hearts - it is such a rewarding feeling to open your inbox the morning after the event with an email from the gorgeous illustrator Natalie Lines thanking us for the opportunity. “I wanted to say an enormous thank you to you and everyone at Gather.ly I had a fantastic time last night and felt very welcomed by everyone!”
Huge thanks goes to everyone involved, especially the gang at Allpress for their continued support of our great cause.
See you at the next event!
